Smith Tower redux
Before Seattle's downtown erupted in skyscrapers, the Smith Tower was the fourth tallest building in the world (circa 1914). It's been elegant, derelict and always icon in the hearts of native Seattleites.
New owner, Unico Properties, is putting the Smith Tower's best foot forward renovating the 35th floor's observation deck this summer.
Plans are to include a speakeasy-style bar and 1920s inspried cafe will give sweeping views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains on just one of the four sides of the building's vantage points.
Traditionalists not to fear....the Asian influences will shine through.
A street level general store is slated to sell gifts.
