Clearwater Restaurant has opened in Newport Oregon. The destination upscale casual restaurant features views of Yaquina Bay, seafood favorites, vegetarian entrees and classic meats. Janell and Hans Goplen are the owners. Hans was a restauranteur in Los Angeles with location at the Grove, Staples Center and Beverly Hills. Doublas Soriano is executive chef. He comes from El Encanto in Santa Barbara.
Alchemy, an old-world chemistry inspired bar and lounge, is now open in West Seattle. Larkin Young is chef of the Junction neighborhood spot.
Hula Hula has reopened on Capitol Hill. With the same tiki-fabulous swagger and nightly karaoke the legendary spot is now at 1501 Olive Way, open 365 days per year from 4 p.m. - 2 a.m. General Manager Joe Zara and the Hula Hula team moved the bamboo bar from Queen Anne moved to the new location from the original Queen Anne location (which will be razed for a multi story building).
Metropolitan Grill will close June 19 for minor renovations. The steakhouse is slated to repen mid-August. During the closure Metropolitan Grill is partnering with Heartwood Provisions to feature an exclusive Met Prime Steak selection in addition to having many of the Met staff join the Heartwood team.
