Ponti prepares for closure

Ponti prepares for closure

Ponti Seafood Grill will close on July 2, 2016, ending a 25 year run as one of Seattle’s classic restaurants.

“I’m 69 and ready to pursue other business interests and spend time in service to the community,” says owner Richard Malia. “I didn’t do this on my own, and I owe both the community a lot for the support we’ve received, as well as my loyal employees.”

Richard and Sharon Malia have a long involvement in Seattle’s restaurant history starting with The Snug in 1972 and Malia’s Northwest (aka Mrs. Malia’s). Ponti opened in November 1990 with Chef Alvin Binuya who returned to lead the kitchen again in 2009, and who will close its doors at the end of a wildly successful run.

The Ponti building and land have been sold and will morph into the Queen Anne Elks club.
