Whistler food & wine weekend
It’s no secret that fans of Whistler’s annual celebration of food and drink love a good party, a strong drink and a great nosh. This Nov. 10 - 20 the 11-day celebration of all things wine, spirit and food also hosts a series of invaluable drink seminars, covering the four most important “food” groups: wine, beer, cocktails and spirits.
Explore the history of gin, take a virtual wine tour through Argentina, learn about Scottish single malts, pair BC craft beer and cheese, dive into biodynamics or talk up some of the best value wines in the variety of seminars being offered.
The seminar series begins Saturday, Nov. 12 with A 500-Year History of Gin presented by Ken Winchester, Master Distiller at Victoria’s de Vine Spirits, and Four Seasons’ Mixologist Albert Kirby. Included is a rare opportunity to taste three historic gin styles.
Other seminar topics include wine and cheese pairings, wine and beer pairings, industry trends, sparkling wines, wine 101, value wines, DIY for drinkers, pairing food and cocktails, spirited chocolate, bubbly cocktails, tequila, the history of IPA, wine and pizza, happy hour @ home, the chardonnay pajama party, the sommelier smackdown, and a how-to guide for Polynesian parties.
